“FLAMENCAS FANTÁSTICAS” is a project focused on raising awareness and paying tribute to women in Flamenco history.
The Project develops a collection of illustrated biographical stories written in poetic form about the most fantastic female artists in flamenco over time. Women that represent the past, present and future of flamenco; women who fought and still fight to find their place through singing, dance and rhythm.
Its main objective is to engage young people in flamenco through some of its performers. In order to do so, each account is accompanied by a didactic syllabus which includes different methodologies and didactic materials to consider before, during and after the reading.
Other objectives that the Project develop are:
To make young learners more aware of flamenco and its cultural and artistic demonstrations through female figures.
To respect and value flamenco as part of our Cultural Heritage.
To promote the pleasure of reading and poetry and the development of literary sensitivity.
To perceive, understand and interpret in the illustrations in a critical way, observing their creative, plastic, aesthetic, and technical qualities.
To promote attitudes of respect and tolerance for diversity, reflecting on the value of equality in society.
To develop self-esteem and self-acceptance.
To train listening skills, oral and written expression, promoting creativity and reading motivation.
The collection integrates the development of key competences in young learners tackling aspects of social and civic competence through the equality of women, cultural and artistic expression through flamenco and communicative and linguistic competence through the development of oral and writing skills.
The first tale of the collection is “Lola Flores ¿Cómo me las maravillaría yo?“ Published by Circulo Rojo Publisher. Written by Almudena Navarro and illustrated by Susana Subirana.
